Breaking: Bodedern Athletic are the champions!

Ricky Williams (left) and his victorious Green Army – league champions

Bodedern Athletic are the 2021-22 Tier 4 North Wales Coast West League Premier Division champions.

The unbeaten Anglesey side cannot be caught at the top after only challengers Bangor 1876 suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat at Glantraeth tonight.

Connor Gordon scored the 78th minute goal that ensured the Bodorgan-based outfit handed 1876 only their second-ever league loss.

With two matches each left to play, Bodedern’s eight-point lead at the summit means they are already champions ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with Gwalchmai.

It is a fantastic achievement for Ricky Williams’ side, who are unbeaten in the league all season – 25 wins and a draw in 26 matches.

Had Bangor 1876 not had such a prolific campaign themselves 22 wins, two draws and just one loss – at Bodedern – before tonight, Athletic would have been crowned the champions some time ago.
