Players from Trearddur Bay Ladies FC have launched plans to set up a girls youth football team.
Experienced footballer Ashleigh Jones posted the idea on social media this week.
Ashleigh, who as a primary school pupil in 2007 became the first female captain to lift the Albert Owen Shield when leading Holyhead’s Ysgol Llanfawr to victory over Ysgol Llanfechell in the final, said: “After speaking to a few people and hearing and seeing the interest of girls/women’s football on the island, my team-mates and I have decided we would like to set up a girls youth football team.
“A couple of us already have our coaching badges and first aid. I am a primary school teacher myself so have an up to date DBS.
“Our aim is simply to promote girls football, whilst having fun and making new friends!
“So if any primary school age girls have shown any interest in playing football, then please give me a message with their name and age and hopefully we will have enough interest in the coming weeks to get up and running before Christmas!
“If you have any queries or would like to get involved, then dont hesitate to send me an email to – email@example.com
