Double joy for Conwy Celts in North Wales Women’s Cricket League

It was a super Sunday for Conwy Celts

Conwy Celts moved up to third in the North Wales Women’s Cricket League on Sunday with a pair of great wins over Northop Hall and Dolgellau.

Conwy Celts (5) 111-4 (net score 291) Northop Hall (0) 98-4 (net 278)

Conwy chose to bat and scored 111-4, Emma Leighton-Jones scoring 22 runs (net 22), Laura Nicholls 15 (net 10) and captain Llinos Hill 11 (net 6).

Hester Evans-Ford took 2-17 and Sarah Edwards 2-20 for the visitors.

Hall produced a good response of 98-4, Sarah Edwards 19 runs (net 19), Jess Petryszyn 15 (net 15), Becky Hicks 13 (net 8), Hester Evans-Ford 12 (net 7) and Kathryn Rhymer 11 (net 11).

Dona Jones picked up 2-17 for Conwy, who won by 13 runs.

Laura Nicholls had a fantastic all-round game as she grabbed an outstanding 3-8 with the ball and scored 30 runs in her team’s success.

After putting the opposition into bat, Celts restricted Dolgellau to 84-7.

Llinos Hill took two catches, exacted two run-outs and claimed 1-12, Nicholls impressing with that three-wicket haul.

Lois Llewelyn was the sole double-figures scorer for the visitors with 15 runs (net 10).

When Conwy batted the runs flowed, Nicholls with 30 (net 30), Emma Leighton-Jones 20 (net 20), Llinos Hill 18 (net 18), Dona Jones 17 (net 12) and Sioned Hill 14 (net 9). The final total of 141-3 was highly impressive.

Lois Llewelyn scooped 2-25 for Dolgellau, Conwy winning by 77 runs.
