WELSH CUP – NORTH SEMI-FINAL

NORTHOP HALL 233-2 (40) LLAY WELFARE 63-10 (29)

Harrison Jones made 95 not out and Will Higginson finished unbeaten on 82 as Northop Hall stormed into the Welsh Cup quarter-finals.

The pair put on an unbroken 164 for the third wicket to ensure the Wrexham-area visitors were never going to challenge their huge total.

Hall won the toss and chose to bat, setting a mammoth 233-2 off their 40 overs, opener Jones, a past Welsh Cup winner with Colwyn Bay, striking nine fours and a six in his innings.

Captain Higginson’s 82 came off just 59 balls and involved 11 boundaries and two maximums.

Alastair Andrady posted 32 in an opening stand of 58 with Jones.

In the face of such an onslaught, Llay’s Nathan Humphreys produced marvellous figures of eight overs, five maidens, one wicket for just eight runs.

In reply, Llay were bowled out for just 63, Will Edwards taking 3-17, Joshua Leach 2-3 and Jones 2-12.

Northop Hall next meet Menai Bridge away in the quarter-finals (northern final).
