Top two St Asaph and Menai Bridge bounced back from last weekend’s shock defeats in style with a pair of heavy victories on Saturday.
Leaders Saints walloped Conwy by 95 runs, while Menai enjoyed a 175-run triumph over bottom side Denbigh.

ST ASAPH (14) 160-6 CLWB CRICED CONWY (1) 65-10

Nathanael Scott’s match-turning 80 and a show-closing five-for from Mathew Ryan ensured St Asaph returned to winning ways in ruthless fashion.

Table-topping Saints won the toss and decided to bat, but received a rude awakening when openers Mathew Ryan and Duncan Midgley both perished for ducks, leaving the hosts 0-2.

When skipper Will Ryan went for seven it was 36-3, but then Scott and Ben Mason turned the tide with a stand of 87.

Scott departed for 80 and Mason 40, then Jason Foulkes added 20, but at the end of a reduced 46 overs Asaph had set a modest 160-6.

Conwy were then rolled over for just 65, Mathew Ryan with a stunning 5-17 off 10.3 overs, taking the last five wickets to fall.

Foulkes scooped 2-15, Liam Moores 2-20 and Danny Ryan 1-11 to seal a 14-1 points verdict.

MENAI BRIDGE (15) 272-6 DENBIGH (0) 97-10

Jack Gower struck the eighth league century of his career as Menai Bridge swept Denbigh aside at Tyn-y-Caeau.

Wicket-keeper Gower also passed 3,500 league runs in his outstanding 127 not out.

Calling the coin correctly and choosing to bat, the Anglesey hosts lost two batters early, but then Gower and Robbie Jones came together and put on 137 for the third wicket.

Jones made 54 and skipper Gethin Roberts 31 as the Bridge amassed 272-6 off their 50 overs, Jack Griffiths an impressive 2-38 off 12 overs for the visitors.

Mathew Jones then picked up 5-21 as Denbigh were dismissed for just 97.

MOCHDRE (1) 45-10 NORTHOP (14) 47-3

Mochdre’s batting line-up is on paper one of the strongest in the division, but today they were all back in the hutch for just 45 at home to Northop.

Andy Poynton grabbed 6-7 off 9.2 overs and Carwyn Johnson claimed 4-26 as the home batsmen perished one-by-one, skipper Matty Humphreys the sole double-figure merchant with 11.

Mochdre were blown away in just 17.2 overs and then Northop reached 47-3 off 12, meaning the game took less than 30 overs to complete. Points: 14-1 to the visitors.

GRESFORD (13) 147-4 (revised target 146 from 46 overs) LLAY WELFARE (2) 154-8

Chris Ellwood’s unbeaten half century helped Gresford comfortably reach the winning post at Clappers Lane.

Put into bat, Llay posted 154-8 from 50 overs, Joe Howell making 33, Daniel Williams 2-21 and Ryan Williams 2-34 for the hosts.

Given 46 overs to make 146 due to a weather interruption, Gresford eased to 147-4 off 36.1, Ellwood’s 54 not out leading the way, Tom Crewe grabbing 2-36 for the visitors.
