PREMIER DIVISION REPORTS – JUNE 26, 2021

BRYMBO (1) 163-10 ST ASAPH (14) 166-3

Nathanael Scott hit an unbeaten 78 as St Asaph proved their title credentials with an emphatic win at Brymbo.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, the Steelmen were all out for 163 and it would have been worse but for a stoic 45 from Daniel Parry down the order.

For the visitors, Mathew Ryan claimed 4-42, Jason Foulkes 2-24 from 12 overs, Liam Moores 2-32 and Danny Ryan 2-55.

Asaph reached 166-3 in 46.2 overs, Scott dominating with his knock, sharing in a stand of 80 for the third wicket with Mathew Ryan (35). Ben Mason (19 no) helped the leaders over the line, assisting Scott in an unbroken fourth-wicket partnership of 51.

LLAY WELFARE (4) 98-10 MENAI BRIDGE (11) 101-10

Second-place Bridge edged a thrilling three-run win at a much-improved Llay.

The Anglesey visitors opted to bat and were rolled over for just 101 in 35 overs, Robbie Jones best with 23.

For the hosts, Tom Crewe collected 4-22 and Jack Billington 3-30.

In reply, Welfare dipped to 65-9, but a last-wicket combination of 33 between Crewe (14 no) and Steve Partington (12) took them to the brink of victory only for the latter to fall lbw to Callum Andrews.

Gerallt Roberts scooped 4-20 from 12 and Patrick Glover 4-31 for the islanders.

BANGOR (15) 87-1 CONWY (0) 86-10

Idrees Ijaz grabbed 4-12 off 9.2 overs as Bangor eased to a nine-wicket triumph over Conwy at Ty Newydd.

The visitors decided to take first knock, but lived to regret it as they were blitzed out for just 86. Number three Lewis Jones top-scored with 20 no.

Providing great back-up to Ijaz, Muhummad Ashfaq notched 3-21, Jonny Wells 2-26 and Owen Reilly an impressive 1-9 off seven overs for the hosts.

Reilly (39 no) and Ijaz (27) put on 61 for the opening wicket as the Citizens cruised to 87-1 in 18.2 overs, Robbie Marshall unbeaten on 12 at the close.

MOCHDRE (14) 234-9 GRESFORD (1) 149-10

Matty Humphreys struck a 10th career ton for Mochdre

Skipper Matty Humphreys hit his 10th career century for Mochdre in a convincing home victory over Gresford on Saturday.

Humphreys, 24, who has struck more than 7,000 runs for his only UK club, scored 114 not out in the hosts’ challenging total of 234-9 at Swan Road.

The captain’s wonder knock came off 133 balls and included 10 fours and two sixes.

Mochdre lost four of their top five batsman for single figures, but Humphreys received support from Alex Davies (46) and Sam Davies (20).

For the Wrexham side, Simon Perry picked up 3-38 and Cam Evans 3-50.

All-rounder Humphreys was not finished there, as he nabbed 4-20 off 7.1 overs as Gresford fell to 149 all out.

Owen Davies scooped 2-31 and Stewart Williams 2-32, while Robert Clark (45) and Matthew Thompson (32) were best performers for the visitors.

NORTHOP (13) 238-7 LLANDUDNO (2) 173-10

Northop tuned up for their big Welsh Cup clash with Northop Hall on Sunday in style after beating Llandudno by 65 runs.

Calling the coin correctly and choosing to bat, the Flintshire side amassed 238-7 off their 50 overs, James Roberts making 61 and Henry Dowd 43 not out, Oliver Hughes 2-39 for the seasiders.

Tudno were dismissed for 173, Jack Rimmington 49, Jake Sumbland 31 no, Andy Poynton pocketing 5-41 for the hosts.

PWLLHELI (13) 199-10 DENBIGH (2) 126-10

Opener Chris Moore hit a crucial 65 as Pwllheli saw off the challenge of bottom side Denbigh at Parc Bodegroes.

On deciding to bat, Pwll’s first pair of Moore and Christopher Taylor (29) put on 48.

Denbigh did well to keep the hosts below 200, bowling them out for 199, Sam Lewis with 4-41 and Jack Griffiths 3-36.

In response, the visitors looked good on 98-2 but then collapsed to 126 all out.

Lewis (50) and skipper Thomas Schrimshaw (40) led the way before six batsmen finished with ducks.

Taylor snared 4-15, Jason Underwood 2-21 and Ben Jones 2-28.
