Mike Davies is the new Trearddur Bay Bulls manager

Long-serving player Mike Davies has become the new manager of Trearddur Bay Bulls.

He replaces Derek Thomas, who has stepped down due to work commitments.

Thomas took over as Bay boss in June 2020, but because of the coronavirus situation sadly did not get to lead the team in a competitive game with the entire 2020-21 season cancelled for leagues below Tier 1.

However, he did sign some fine players, including goal machine Asa Thomas, who committed to the Bulls last November.

Mike Davies could easily fit the title “Mr Trearddur Bay” given his service to the club as a player and managerial assistant over many years.

He was a key part of the Trearddur Bay United team which won 10 trophies in four seasons under the management of his brother Chris Davies between 2008/09 and 2011/12.

Bay then went on to win the Gwynedd League title as invincibles and the Welsh Alliance Division One crown at the first attempt under Mark Williams.

For the 2021-22 season, Mike will be assisted by Chris Davies, Mark Williams and Mark Edwards, coach during Richard Owen’s reign as Bulls manager.

Gareth Owen and Si Thomas will continue as goalkeeper coaches.

Mike Davies and Mark Williams were already part of the management set-up under Derek Thomas, so the transition will be smooth.

Paying tribute to Derek Thomas’ work at Lon Isallt, a club statement said: “The club would like to thank Derek for his time and commitment during his period at the club.”

Bulls will play in the Tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division when the 2021-22 season kicks off in July.
