The shape of North Wales women’s football for the season ahead will be much clearer next week.

The FAW will announce on Monday which eight clubs will play in Tier 2 North in 2021-22.

Twelve northern clubs passed the first stage of the licensing process. Which eight make it into Tier 2 will depend on how they rated in stage two.

The 12 hopefuls were asked to present their Development Plans, to help panelists understand how the club will be, and continue to be, competitive in the relevant league and how they will contribute to the continued growth of female football in Wales.

Each club was asked to address a panel of FAW staff and independent experts.

The 12 contenders for Tier 2 North are

Airbus UK Broughton
Amlwch Town
Bethel
Colwyn Bay
Connah’s Quay Nomads
Denbigh Town
Llandudno
Llanfair United
Llanystumdwy
NFA
Pwllheli
Wrexham

Clwb Pel Droed Merched Bangor and Northop Hall Girls Junior FC withdrew their Tier 2 applications.

The remaining North Wales teams outside Tier 2 will make up the area leagues.

The new-look women’s football pyramid in Wales for 2021-22 will comprise…

Tier 1 – 8 teams
Tier 2 North and South – both 8 teams
Tier 3 Area Leagues
Tier 4 Area Leagues
