Penrhyn Bay Girls and Women aim to make football history

Penrhyn Bay Girls and Women will aim to make history on Sunday when they take on Barry Town United Ladies in the final of the 2020-21 FAW Under-16 Girls Welsh Cup.

Victory for Gareth Rawling’s side at Latham Park, Newtown, will make them the first North Wales team to win the national cup twice.

Penrhyn Bay became just the third northern side to lift the trophy in 2018-19, following in the footsteps of Caernarfon Town Girls (2013-14) and Prestatyn Girls (2014-15).

Like in 2018-19, when they defeated Villa Dino Christchurch in the final, Bay have a strong squad.

One player to watch could be Nel Metcalfe, who has scored in every round so far, notching six goals in four matches.

Wales Under-15 midfielder Sophie Rawling will be another key player, but everyone has played an equal part in reaching this stage.

On the eve of the big day, Penrhyn head coach Gareth Rawling said: “As coaches and the club as a whole we are immensely proud of this fantastic group of girls and what they have already achieved. Everybody is looking forward to a great day tomorrow.”

The match will be shown LIVE on You Tube tomorrow, kick off 4 pm. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa1yNtsQHNs
