Big semi-final date awaits Penrhyn Bay Girls FC on Sunday

Penrhyn Bay Girls & Women will aim to reach the FAW Under-16 Girls Welsh Cup final for the second time in three years this afternoon.

The North Wales youngsters take on Talycopa in a hotly-anticipated semi-final at Latham Park, Newtown, kick-off 4 pm.

It will be a repeat of last year’s quarter-final, which the Swansea side won on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Talycopa then lost in the semis to Tredegar Women and Girls. The final was never played due to coronavirus, meaning Penrhyn Bay still technically hold the cup they won in 2018-19.

Penrhyn will be without midfielder Sophie Rawling, who is on duty with Wales Under-15’s against England, but otherwise are at full strength.

To reach the last four, Bay have beaten Bethel (10-0), NFA (1-0) and Northop Hall (8-0).

Penrhyn defeated Villa Dino Christchurch in the 2019 final and will aim to become the first North Wales team to win the competition twice.
