New CPD Penrhyndeudraeth manager Iwan Williams has announced the return of four club stalwarts.

Adam Griffiths, Iwan Thomas, Liam Watson and Tom Hughes are all returning to Maes-y-Parc for the 2021-22 season.

Last week the club revealed Williams, who hails from Penrhyndeudraeth, is ‘coming home’ to manage the tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division outfit.

“I’m delighted to announce that 4 of our club stalwarts have decided to return and commit to our club for next season,” said the new boss.

“It was important that we get the experience required to balance off the youth we’re hoping to build our future around.

Not only are these four good players, but they’re also friends of mine, so when we get them fit and ready, there will be no trouble getting them motivated for games as I know they will run through a brick wall for me and this football club.

“We appreciate that we can’t complete their signatures for another few weeks so to have their commitment so early on is testament to our plans.

“We will be announcing more players in the next few weeks as well as more members of the old band.”

Williams, who holds the UEFA Pro License, arrives at Maes-y-Parc after a spell as part of the coaching team at National League North club Chester FC.

Prior to that, he was director of football at Bangor 1876, manager of Llandudno in the Welsh Premier League and boss at Caernarfon Town, where he won the Cymru Alliance League and cup double in his first season in charge.

The Anglesey-based coach also helped guide Ynys Môn to the gold medal at the 2019 Inter-Island Games.

Penhyn’s previous manager, Barry Evans, will remain as player-assistant and as a valued member of the club committee.

Evans has worked extremely hard to ensure that the recent improvements at Maes-y-Parc were completed.
