Iwan Williams is delighted after CPD Penrhyndeudraeth earn Tier 3 status

CPD Penrhyndeudraeth’s new manager Iwan Williams says he is delighted that the club has secured a Tier 3 licence.

Although the Maes-y-Parc outfit are in Tier 4 for 2021-22, they were this week successful in their bid for a licence to compete in the third tier of Welsh football.

Four other Tier 4 clubs achieved the same success at a meeting of the FAW Tier 3 First Instance Body: Bangor 1876, CPD Y Rhyl 1879, Dolgellau Athletic and Glantraeth.

Williams recently took over at Penrhyn following previous stays with Chester, Caernarfon Town, Llandudno and Bangor 1876.

“It’s fantastic news for the club,” he said.

“Not only did I accept the job to come home and be among friends and family again, but I was made aware of the ambition at the club which is always an attraction for any manager.

“The work that’s been carried out by Barry and Aled in particular is testament to them and this news is the icing on the cake. Our training sessions have been brilliant thus far with many new faces wanting to commit.

“News like this only stresses our intentions and shows our ambition to want to be successful this coming season.”

Williams also paid tribute to club stalwarts Barry Evans and Aled Thomas.

“These two are driving everything behind the scenes. It’s unbelievable how much work they’ve done, getting the ground upgraded, they are a credit to the community.”
