Birthday boy Sion Devereux is a stunning midfield talent for Llanfairfechan

Llanfairfechan Town celebrate their 2017-18 Presidents Cup success

One of the best players I saw perform during the 2019-20 season on the North Wales football scene was Llanfairfechan Town’s Sion Devereux.

A dazzling midfielder, lively, alert, great passing and an ability to score goals, he was a stand-out operator in Andrew Croston’s side.

Today sees Sion celebrate his 26th birthday having been born on April 20, 1995.

As a junior, Sion played for famous Bangor area junior side Penrhosgarnedd.

In his teens, he won the North Wales Coast Junior Cup under the management of Martin Jones, whose son Corey was also in the side.

Sion then went on to play for Bangor City Reserves in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.

Sion Devereux

He was involved in the last ever Reserve fixture at Farrar Road when City lost 4-2 to Holyhead Hotspur on December 20, 2011.

While in the Reserves, Sion played alongside some great players such as Damien Allen, Michael Walsh, Eddie Jebb, Sion Edwards and Alan Bull, the majority of whom won the Welsh Premier League title with the mighty all-blues.

Sion joined Llanfairfechan Town in 2016 and instantly became a key player in the midfield.

His finest hour with the club to date was winning the 2017/18 Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Presidents Cup with a 4-1 victory over Llandudno Amateurs in the final.

More Llanfairfechan celebrations

Ellis Jones (2), Iwan Jones and Ryan Dodd clinched the trophy for the Premier Division side in May 2018.

Llanfair also finished Premier runners-up that season.

Sion is an ardent Tottenham Hotspur fan, but in his childhood days watched a lot of Bolton Wanderers games as his granddad follows the club closely.

Definitely a player to watch in the forthcoming season.

Happy birthday Sion have a superb evening.
