North Wales Women’s Football League – December 18, 2016

Birthday girl Jasmine Kepil’s finest hour in a Kinmel Bay shirt may well have been the day her second-half goal secured a stunning 1-0 win away to high-flyers Llanfair United in the North Wales Women’s League.

Bay produced one of the results of the season in picking up maximum points at Mount Field back in 2016.

Super striker Kepil produced the game’s golden moment when she fired in the winner.

It was a fine all-round team performance from the visitors who had performed so well in losing to Airbus the weekend before without reward.

Despite their long journey to mid-Wales, Kinmel started well with the first half a 50-50 affair and chances falling at either end.

Both teams defended well, Mari Arthur and Sarah Lloyd standing out, while Charlotte Miliziano was constantly in amongst the midfield tackles and helping launch her side’s attacks.

Come the interval it was 0-0 and that scoreline was about right.

Changes were made in the second half as Llinos Bonnett came off and was replaced by Becky Bott, who took over in goal from Kelly Prior, who moved into midfield.

Within the first 10 minutes came the all-important goal when Caitlin Latham broke down the right, beating three players before finding Jasmine Kepil to apply a lethal finish.

After that the chances continue to flow for both teams, but neither were able to find the net again.

The last 10 minutes proved nervy for Kinmel as Llanfair did everything they could to break down the visitors’ defence.

But Prior did a fine marking job on the dangerous Mary Griffiths and when the home side did get a sight of goal, Bott was able to make some great late saves.

Kinmel Bay: Kelly Prior, Becky Bott, Kara Mason, Sarah Lloyd, Mari Arthur, Jess Jones, Lucy Perry, Charlotte Miliziano, Llinos Bonnett, Caitlin Latham, Jasmine Kepil, Talia Jones, Non Lloyd, Georgia Williams, Hannah Parry.
