Happy birthday to North Wales football’s version of Charlie’s Angels!

Today’s birthday girls – from left: Shona (20), Shannon (25) and Cara (22)

Charlie’s Angels are an awesome crime-fighting trio.

Today sees North Wales football’s equivalent of the Angels celebrate a birthday.

Shona Roberts (February 26, 2001)

One of the fastest developing young defenders in North Wales.

Shona stepped up to Llandudno’s senior team at the age of 16 and adapted to the physical demands of the Welsh Premier League like a duck to water.

Last season she was part of the dynamic new Connah’s Quay Nomads team which finished unbeaten runners-up in North Wales League Division Two.

Shona’s first girls team was Colwyn Bay aged 11 but her talents truly shone through for Llandudno Girls, where she progressed from the under-14’s to U-16’s.

She also played for the North Wales Coast Development Centre.

One of her most treasured moments was winning a tournament with Llandudno U-16’s, defeating a strong Prestatyn side they had never beaten before 1-0 in the final.

Shannon Thomas (February 26, 1996)

Had to use this lovely photo. Shannon is furthest right with Amlwch team-mates (from left): Cerys Gadd, Lexi Crawley and Ceri Slaney

Amlwch Town midfielder Shannon is 25 today – many happy returns.

Hailing from Holyhead, Shannon comes from good footballing stock as her dad Karl used to play for Hotspur.

Amlwch is Shannon’s only club, and she has played in just about every position for the team.

In recent times, she has been part of the squad which won the Supplementary Cup and last season the North Wales Division Two title.

She also fondly remembers reaching the 2015-16 Betty Pickering Cup final where Amlwch lost narrowly 1-0 to Caernarfon Town, but also put up a great display in a game where they were rank outsiders.

Shannon has also represented Ynys Mon at the Island Games.

She always plays with a smile on her face and is a true team player.

Cara Wyn Hughes (February 26, 1999)

Today Cara turns 22.

She did not start playing football properly until she was about 15, but in her first ever game for Pwllheli she came on as a substitute and scored the subsequent winner of goal of the season!

A hard-working right-back, she defends and attacks with equal gusto and possesses a great engine.

Cara has played in the Welsh Premier League for both Caernarfon Town and Llandudno, as well as Pwllheli in the North Wales League.
