Football friendly: Nantlle Vale hit four in impressive victory at 1876

Nantlle Vale produced an impressive performance in a 4-1 victory over a Bangor 1876 side playing their first pre-season friendly tonight.

The hosts started well, having the majority of the possession and Dylan Summers-Jones looking a threat down the left.

Nantlle got to grips with the game following the opening 10 minutes with Sion Parry netting the opening goal against his former club after 18.

Following this, Vale were on top, going close a few times before Gavin Jones put them 2-0 up, taking advantage of slack defending, going round the keeper and slotting the ball in from 20 yards.

1876 fought back with a spell of pressure which resulted in a series of corners which the home side capitalised from when Cameron Barry scored.

The second half began with Summers-Jones almost equalising straight after the kick-off.

Vale then took control, Gavin Jones netting his second with a rocket from 20 yards into the far bottom corner on 52 minutes.

Although 1876 looked dangerous on the break, calling Gethin Roberts the Vale keeper into action on a couple of occasions, the Penygroes outfit remained in command.

Rob Daniels sealed the game after going clean through on goal from a long ball and being taken down by the defender in the box.

He slotted the resulting penalty in on 77 minutes ending all hopes of a 1876 comeback.

Vale joint-manager Sion Eifion Jones said: “It was a much better performance tonight from us.

“You can start to see the work we’ve done over the long pre-season is starting to show.

“Players are also coming back from long-term injuries and are picking up form again which it’s great to see. There’s a lot of new faces in the squad too so naturally it was going to take time to settle, but tonight was the first sign of what’s to come.”

Nantlle are away to Conwy Borough on Tuesday night.
