Argentine striker Dante Isla grabbed a hat-trick for Bangor City in tonight’s 5-1 friendly victory over tier 3 Ardal North West visitors Nantlle Vale.

Although it was a clear enough win in the end for Hugo Colace’s side, the Penygroes-based opposition were very much in the game at 3-1 down, having a couple of chances to pull level, before the Citizens pulled away in the closing minutes.

Cymru North City started strongly and took a second minute lead through a fantastic strike from Brazilian Giacomo Mello from the edge of the box.

In the 20th minute Isla was fouled in the box and Argentinian Agustín Zicarelli netted from the spot.

Isla’s first came on 27 minutes, the player nicknamed “The Tank” allowed an easy finish after Mello put it on the plate.

Half time and Bangor well worth their 3-0 lead.

The second half saw Vale begin to find their feet.

Ashley Owen pulled a goal back after four minutes for Daniel Bell and Sion Eifion Jones’ men, and from there on it was an even contest with Nantlle having a couple of good openings to make it all-square.

Bangor took charge in the final quarter, Mello setting up Isla for his second.

Late on, Isla struck again to make it a treble.

Some excellent defending and goalkeeping denied the hosts further goals.

Nantlle joint-manager Bell said: “We gave a very good performance second half, scoring early on, then having two or three very good opportunities where we should have drawn level.

“They went on to punish us, scoring twice in the last 10 minutes where fitness told, which was expected playing a full time side after a two-week lockdown.”
