Friday friendlies: Mello magic as City beat Hotspur, Bethesda victorious again

Mello made it seven goals in four games for Bangor City

Bangor City 4 (Mello 3, Isla)
Holyhead Hotspur 1 (Jones)

Brazilian magician Giacomo Mello notched a hat-trick for a City side which made it five straight wins in pre-season.

With news the Cymru North is due to start playing competitive matches soon, both these member sides went into tonight’s friendly on a high.

And it was midfielder Mello, formerly of 14-time Polish champions Ruch Chorzów, who stole the show at Nantporth, opening the scoring on seven minutes with a sensational strike from distance.

The lead was doubled in the 25th minute when Mello’s majestic through ball released the in-form Dante Isla to calmly finish.

Mello made it 3-0 just a minute later, dribbling in from the right flank before placing the ball into the top corner from distance.

On the hour Mello completed his treble and made it seven goals in four matches with another cracking effort.

Hotspur did pull a goal back through Alex Jones, but the Citizens ran out convincing and deserved winners.
