Dean Redmond has returned to the Bridge

Big signing for Menai Bridge Tigers – striker Dean Redmond is back with the Anglesey club.

The 31-year-old returns to the Bridge after a season in the Welsh Alliance with Bodedern Athletic, where he finished the campaign as their top scorer with 18 goals.

The season prior, Redmond piled up 39 goals as Menai were crowned 2018-19 Gwynedd League champions, but were refused promotion on a ground criteria issue.

Now the player affectionately nicknamed “Curly”, is ready to go for goals in the new tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division with the Tigers.

Bridge manager Aaron Rowlands said: “Dean was phenomenal for the club the two seasons ago, winning Gwynedd League Player of the Year and also finishing as the league’s top scorer.

“With his never-say-die attitude and high intensity game, Curls promises to be a big player for Tigers this season.

“I’m really pleased to have Curls back at the Bridge for the upcoming season. He was a fan favourite here before he left for Bodedern last season, so his return will be a huge lift for everyone at the club.

“One of the areas I pin pointed to add to the club this summer was goals and intensity and Curls brings both of them in abundance.

“His desire to win football matches is infectious and he’ll be a huge part of our dressing room moving forward.

“With us now being confirmed for Tier 4, I’d identified 3 or 4 targets to add to our already competitive squad from last season and Curls was top of the list. I was obviously gutted to lose him last season, but fully understood his decision to leave to play higher league football.

“Over the last few weeks I’d spoken to Curls and once I knew his desire to return I didn’t hesitate to make it happen. He was highly sought after so this a big coup for MBT. He was a huge part of our dressing room two seasons ago.

“We can’t wait to see him turn out for us back in the yellow and black.”

Redmond, whose other former clubs are Beaumaris Town and Bethesda Athletic, made a short but clear statement about his return.

“Happy to be back and can’t wait to start scoring goals for the Tigers.”
