Six of last season’s Cymru Premier championship-winning Connah’s Quay Nomads squad have signed new deals with the club.
Full-timers Lewis Brass, Callum Roberts, Kris Owens and Sameron Dool have all re-committed, along with James Owen and Danny Holmes.
Brass, Roberts, Owens and Dool all played key parts in the 2019/20 season as the club picked up the JD Cymru Premier and Nathaniel MG Cup domestic double.
Goalkeeper Brass made his Nomads debut at Bala in 2018/19 before playing a pivotal role in Quay’s European success over Kilmarnock at the start of last term.
In his first full season at the club, Brass kept 20 clean sheets in all competitions, conceding just 28 goals.
Roberts made his competitive debut for the club in the 2-1 defeat at home to Kilmarnock in the UEFA Europa League First Qualifying Round, where he set up the Nomads’ goal.
He went on to start 29 competitive games for in his first campaign with the club.
Quay manager Andy Morrison said: “I am delighted to have Lewis Brass and Callum Roberts signed up for the forthcoming season. Both players have received interest from numerous clubs and the fact that they see their development at Connah’s Quay speaks volumes about how we do things.”
Owens and Dool landed at Deeside Stadium shortly after the club’s Europa League campaign and both played important roles throughout the season.
Morrison added; “Both Kris and Dooly got game time last season – this coming campaign is about going to the next level and establishing themselves week-in, week-out in the starting eleven.”
Holmes and Owen have penned contract extensions at the club.
Owen arrived at Deeside Stadium in May 2016 as has gone on to be a first-team mainstay.
He made his debut against Stabaek in the Europa League and has since racked up 146 starts in all competitions for the club, picking up a JD Welsh Cup winners’ medal in 2017-18, as well as helping the Quay lift the Nathaniel MG Cup and land the league title last season.
He signs a one-year extension to his existing contract.
Owen said: “I’m really happy to be signing for a fifth season at the club and looking forward to continuing the success we have had during my time here.
“Mor hapus I seinio am y pumed tymor hefor clwb a dwi’n edrych ymlaen I barhau y llwyddiant rydym ni wedi ei gael yn ystod fy nghyfnod yn y clwb.“
Holmes has spent two seasons at Connah’s Quay, having originally joined in May 2018, debuting versus Shaktyor Soligorsk in the Europa League.
The former Tranmere Rovers and TNS man has made 82 starts in all competitions for Nomads. Holmes has signed a new two-year deal.
Morrison added; “I am delighted to get two of our senior players signed up for the forthcoming season. Both players are right at the top of their game and have been a pleasure to work with – they both thoroughly deserve their new deals.”
Assistant-manager Craig Harrison recently signed a new two-year deal with the champions.
