Goalkeeper Alex Ramsay leaves Caernarfon Town

Goalkeeper Alex Ramsay has left Caernarfon Town and could be on his way to Bala.

Ramsay, 26, joined the Canaries in November 2016 and has been a resounding success at the club.

He was a key part of the 2017-18 Cymru Alliance title-winning squad and has proved an outstanding asset in the Cofis’ two comeback seasons in the Cymru Premier, helping them twice secure a top six place.

Ramsay’s contract has run out at The Oval and the club has confirmed he has left.

Bala Town released both of their main goalkeepers, Josh Tibbetts and Ashley Morris, at the weekend, leaving a gap for a major signing to take the No 1 shirt – it is believed Ramsay is that man, although this is not yet confirmed.

Having first emerged through the TNS Scholarship scheme, Ramsay was loaned to Caersws in 2010/11, where he was voted players’ player and young player of the season.

His potential was rewarded by the Saints with inclusion in the Europa League squad in 2011 and a professional contract.

He was then loaned out to Rhyl, where he enjoyed two seasons in the Cymru Alliance, helping the Lilywhites land the 2012/13 title without losing a match before stepping up to the WPL as a first-choice keeper.

An Under-18 semi-pro international, Alex is also a lead youth development phase coach at Shrewsbury Town, as well as being a UEFA A Licence coach and UEFA A Goalkeeper Licence candidate.
