Penycae and Cefn Druids celebrate the launch of their new partnership

Penycae Football Club have announced an exciting new affiliation with Cymru Premier outfit Cefn Druids AFC.

This exclusive partnership will allow both clubs to ensure more opportunities are given to local youngsters who wish to engage in football, allowing them access to better coaching and a clear pathway for their futures.

As part of the deal, Druids will be assisting with the coaching of the youth sections at Penycae in order to help grow and develop the Welsh National League Premier Division club’s already very successful youth set-up.

Further to this Penycae first team manager Ben Heath will be taking on the Cefn Druids U19’s managerial role to help the development of players at both clubs.

Jayson Starkey, head of coaching and youth development at the Ancients, gave his thoughts on the deal. He said: “I’m really pleased to announce the affiliation between Cefn Druids and Penycae.

“It’s important to myself and the club that we continue to grow our community links within the area and promote football in Wales at all levels of the game.

“Penycae have been doing some excellent work at all ages which I hope to be able to assist with to make sure that all players have an opportunity to engage in football in some form or another.
“Between our clubs, we hope to develop not only players but also coaches by giving them the tools and opportunities to deliver sessions within a positive environment set by our clubs.”

Robert Salisbury, director & commercial manager at Penycae FC, said: “We are delighted to have entered into this partnership with Druids.

“When the opportunity to work with such a fantastic football institution arose, the decision to form this affiliation was an easy one.

“We hope to be able to offer far more opportunities for local youngsters and give them a clear pathway to have a positive future. Both clubs will work tirelessly together to ensure that players have access to the very best coaching and education so that they can develop within our clubs.

“I’d like to personally thank Jayson Starkey and Ben Heath for helping form this partnership and also everyone at Cefn Druids, I look forward to working with you for many years to come.”
