Things are coming along nicely for newly-formed women’s football team NFA – but they would welcome more players.

The Prestatyn and Rhyl area based team played a friendly against fellow newcomers Holywell FC Girls and Ladies last Sunday and won 2-0.

NFA manager Andy Lloyd said: “The girls are really looking forward to the forthcoming season. They are training hard and it’s refreshing to see a group come together and play with smiles on their faces.

“We have a few more signings to complete before the start of the season. Of course we want to be competitive but the atmosphere we are trying to promote is relaxed.

“We played our first friendly last Sunday at Holywell, who are also a new team, but our ladies showed confidence from the start.

“As a club, NFA are making the final step in the transition from junior to adult football possible.”

NFA have just received vital sponsorship from Elite Decking and coach Rebekah Hansen added: “I’m glad we can now offer the final step for the girls coming out of junior football.

“Our pathway begins at U6 all the way through. It’s an exciting time to be a part of our project,

“However. we’re still on the lookout for new players to add to the squad. We have a lovely bunch of women and welcome any abilities.”

Training is at Prestatyn High School on Tuesday evenings between 6:15 and 7:15pm.
