NOVIRA CYMRU PREMIER – PHASE ONE REPORTS – OCTOBER 23-24

Connah’s Quay Nomads 2 Llandudno 0

Seven straight wins for Nomads while Llandudno are now without a league victory in seven attempts, six losses.
Today’s result at the Essity Stadium moved John Disney’s second-place side to within six points of leaders The New Saints.
The all-reds could not have dreamed of a better start as they took the lead after just 25 seconds.
Harry Franklin set up Callum West for the finish after a great move down the left-hand side.
Llandudno looked unlucky not to earn a penalty when a Tom Stephens close-range volley appeared to strike a Nomads hand.
Things got much tougher for Tudno after 36 minutes when Jayden Lloyd was red-carded for a late challenge on Frankie Deane.
Franklin had a goal ruled out for offside before the striker’s point blank header was superbly kept out by Joel Torrance and the Nomads man nodded the rebound against the post.
Franklin’s luck finally changed in the 58th minute when he applied the finish after smart build-up involving Abdi Sharif and West.
The offside flag came to Llandudno’s rescue again when Dean found the net.

Cambrian United 2 Airbus UK Broughton 3

Airbus produced a fantastic comeback from 2-0 down to claim all three points at the M&P Group 3G.
Mark Allen’s side recorded a third straight league victory and undoubtedly one of their finest since returning to the Cymru Premier.
George Peers added another double to make it 10 goals in his last five league games and he now tops the CPL scorers list with 14.
Cambrian were in the early ascendancy and took a sixth minute lead when a deep cross from the right by Camillo Strinati was missed by outrushing Wingmakers keeper Louis Fallon and Jarrad Wright nodded into the empty net.
Peers looked set to equalise when he raced clear into the box, but dragged his effort wide.
Fallon pulled off two fine stops, while at the other end Ollie Lanceley was twice in on goal but failed to hit the target.
Airbus paid for profligacy in the 38th minute when Ashley Evans found Josh Beecher, who blasted home a stunning left-footer from inside the box to make it 2-0 Cambrian.
Airbus needed a goal to revive their hopes and it came in the first half added time.
A long delivery from the left was expertly brought down Dennis Bergkamp style by Peers, who stroked into the empty net with keeper Kelland Absalom committed.
Three minutes after the restart the visitors were level – and what a goal.
Kaiden Cooke broke from the centre circle and embarked on an unstoppable run which ended with a lethal finish.
And the comeback was complete on 55 when the Wingmakers made it 3-2 after a promising attacking situation for Cambrian was squandered.
From a quick counter, Cooke raced towwards the box, held the ball up and found Sean Moscrop who crossed to the back post where Lanceley cushioned a header into the path of Peers who made no mistake.
Still there was plenty of time left and it needed the heroics of keeper Fallon to deny the hosts an equaliser.
First, the young stopper thwarted Liam Eason when he was in on goal, then produced a fine diving save from the same player.

Caernarfon Town 3 Briton Ferry Llansawel 1

Fourth-place Caernarfon maintained their perfect record against Ferry with a fifth straight win over their opponents since the South Walians joined the Cymru Premier in 2024-25.
The visitors made a decent start, forcing Connor Roberts into a good early save before Ollie Anderson looked unlucky not to earn a penalty when his cross appeared to strike the arm of Caernarfon’s Noah Edwards.
However, it was the Cofis who struck first on 27 minutes when the hosts displayed persistence in attack before Sion Bradley showed pace in the box, then fired home for a third successive match.
Four minutes later, Bradley fed the ball to Osian Evans, who laid it back from the right byline for Harry Charsley to lash in number two.
Charsley headed wide just before the break and the Canaries continued to dominate in the second half, Will Fuller doing well to keep out a Bradley effort.
A third Town goal was on the cards and it came on 71 minutes when Evans sped to the left byline before smartly setting up Charsley for his second.
Roberts made two magnificent saves to deny Tom Walters and sub Luke Bowen before Ferry bagged a consolation five minutes into stoppage time.
Bowen’s close range goal was originally disallowed for offside, but after a VAR Light review it was given.

Trefelin BGC 0 Flint Town United 2

The Silkmen made it three wins in four games under new manager Danny Holmes to lift themselves out of the bottom four.
Flint were great value for three points at Ynys Park, only being denied a first half lead when Isaac Modi’s close range shot was brilliantly blocked by the home defence.
Ben Hughes fired straight at keeper Scott Coughlin before Modi lashed wide, but the goal finally came in a game-changing moment on the hour.
Lassana Mendes was favourite to reach a bouncing ball in the area before being clattered by the goalkeeper. Mendes did manage to direct the ball towards goal, but it was cleared before crossing the line.
Referee Richard Wright red-carded Coughlin and awarded the visitors a penalty which Tunde Owolabi converted.
Hughes volleyed against the bar before in the 67th minute, Mendes crossed, Harry Owen nodded down at the back post and Owolabi forced the ball over the line.

Colwyn Bay 2 Cardiff Met 2

Ten-man Bay took a hard-earned point from their home tussle with Cardiff Met.
Visiting keeper Arron Davies somehow denied Bay from a corner before the students took a 21st minute lead with a marvellously-worked goal.
Fumpa Mwandwe and Aaron Wildig combined exquisitely to tee up Sam Snaith for a close range finish.
Davies produced more magnificent saves before the hosts were reduced to 10 when defender Ryan Astles was red-carded after a VAR review following a last-man foul on Wildig.
The Seagulls came out battling in the second half and received a big helping hand from their opponents in the 49th minute when Snaith headed into his own net from a left-wing corner.
Bay were inspired, and Jordan Davies’ audacious attempt from just inside the Met half nearly found the gaping net.
Mike Wilde’s men went 2-1 up in the 62nd minute when Sam Hart’s inswinging corner from the right flew directly into the net.
Davies had a goal ruled out for offside before Snaith was involved at the right end this time when his header down enabled Jasper Payne to equalise on 74.
Bay almost won it when Declan Poole let fly late on, but the outstanding Davies concocted another cracking save diving at full-length.
