NOVIRA CYMRU NORTH – REPORTS OCTOBER 24

CPD Y Rhyl 1879 2 Newtown 2

Late substitute Promise Mmadi delivered an 85th minute equaliser to secure the Lilywhites a point against second-place Newtown.
In their first game since the recent departure of Paul Moore, the managerless hosts were indebted to right-winger Mmadi for his almost instant impact at the Hops and Barley Community Stadium.
Taking on a Newtown side they lost to 5-2 and 6-1 last season, Rhyl took a 15th minute lead through Joel Giblin, Joshua Jones with the assist.
Robins top-scorer Jamie Hyne levelled on 20 minutes with his 12th goal of the season, a powerful strike from outside the box.
James Owen’s side took the lead after 65 when Hanoch Boakye drilled firmly into the bottom corner from distance.
The home side pushed hard to get something out of the game, and were rewarded when Mmadi, who came on in the 81st minute, struck to make it two-apiece.
Rhyl are now without a league win in six attempts, but will have been encouraged by this result against opponents which beat them twice so soundly last term.

Buckley Town 0 Holyhead Hotspur 2

Two penalties from Connor Owen clinched an excellent three points for Holyhead against a Buckley outfit which was undefeated in their previous five league games.
Dave Evans’ home side had been so unlucky to exit the Welsh Cup on penalties to Colwyn Bay the previous weekend, but went out determined to bounce back by building on their much improved league form.
However, Hotspur were on the hunt for a third away victory in succession, and a hard-fought first half ended 0-0.
Three minutes into the second half, the deadlock was broken when Jamie Jones was felled in the box and Owen netted from the spot.
Six minutes later a second penalty was awarded to the visitors for a foul on Sam Jones and Owen converted again for his seventh goal of the campaign.
To complete a miserable afternoon for the Bucks, coach Gareth Lloyd was shown a red card on 85 minutes and Daniel Burgess was dismissed for a second yellow after 88.

Porthmadog 0 Brickfield Rangers 1

Brickfield moved six points clear at the summit after a hard-earned three points in atrocious conditions at Y Traeth.
The only goal arrived on 37 minutes when Bobby Beaumont’s shot was kept out by Robbie Williams, but Lewis Wynne was following up to score.

Llanuwchllyn 3 Bala Town 3

Llanuwchllyn fought back twice from a goal down to grab a point against a Bala side now without a win in four league matches.
Llan took a third-minute lead through a Danny Holland penalty, but John Owen equalised on eight and Tomas Jones nudged the Lakesiders in front with 28 gone.
In the 56th minute, Ilan Ap Gareth Jones made it 2-2 from a Will Owen assist, but Charlie Fisher restored the Town lead on 67.
That looked like it might be enough for the visitors, but in the 91st minute Aled Parry pounced to make it three-apiece.
Bala’s Will Bell was red-carded after the final whistle.

Caersws 2 Guilsfield 2

Guilsfield tought back from two-down to salvage a draw in a Powys derby which finished with both sides reduced to 10 men.
Callum Francis-Jones netted on 27 minutes to give the Bluebirds a half time lead.
Jake Cooke missed a penalty for Guils after 62, then with 73 on the clock, Ashley Harries doubled the Sws advantage.
A 78th minute incident led to Caersws’ Thomas Edwards and Callum Bromley of Guils both being shown red cards.
The visitors gave themselves a lifeline with an 85th minute reply from Rhys Tilsley and the same man plundered an equaliser on 92 from a Billy Clarke assist.
