Champions Nomads claim cracking three points at Llanfair

GENERO ADRAN NORTH – NOVEMBER 1, 2026
Llanfair United 1 (Roberts 19)
Connah’s Quay Nomads 2 (Hughes 15, 74)
A superb double from Rosie Hughes proved decisive as the Nomads demonstrated their quality, resilience and determination.
The champions started the contest looking to establish themselves in possession, moving the ball confidently and attempting to create openings against a determined Llanfair side.
The first real opportunity came through some excellent attacking play from Phoebe Ellis. Showing great strength to hold off her marker, Ellis clipped a clever ball into the path of Hannah Slack, who found herself in a promising position inside the area. Slack managed to get her shot away but could only direct her effort wide of the near post.
Despite the Nomads looking dangerous going forward, Llanfair demonstrated they were capable of causing problems of their own.
Goalkeeper Faye Moseley produced a crucial save to deny Harriet Davies, before Aimee Redfern reacted brilliantly to block the rebound and prevent the hosts from taking the lead.
It was a vital defensive moment for Nomads and one that would prove particularly important as the away side soon made their breakthrough.
The breakthrough arrived on 15 minutes courtesy of a moment of real quality from Ellis and Hughes.
Ellis produced an exquisite defence-splitting pass that perfectly picked out the run of Hughes, who showed outstanding composure to race beyond the Llanfair defence, round the onrushing goalkeeper and calmly slot the ball into an empty net.
However, the lead would prove short-lived.
Just four minutes after falling behind, Llanfair responded through Sioned Roberts, who found the net to bring the hosts level.
The equaliser ensured the contest remained finely balanced and provided the Nomads with an early test of character.
As the first half approached its conclusion, Hughes’ effort flashed inches wide of the post.
Half-time: 1-1
Llanfair continued to make life difficult, ensuring Nomads had to work hard for every opportunity.
However, the attacking quality within Andy Griffiths’ squad remained evident, with Hughes continuing to lead the line and Sienna Perry providing another dangerous outlet.
Hughes and Perry both came close to restoring the lead as the away side increased their attacking threat.
The 75th minute delivered the winner of this battle between last season’s top two.
Perry delivered a perfectly weighted through ball that unlocked the Llanfair defence and released Hughes into space.
Showing the composure and finishing quality that make her such a dangerous attacking player, Hughes raced onto the pass before confidently slotting the ball beyond the goalkeeper.
Late on Llanfair broke through on goal only to be stopped by brilliant defensive tackle from Tia Lockley.
Nomads held on to secure first league victory against a very good and strong Llanfair side
