Mabli and Amber celebrate as Cymru U17 secure promotion
Promotion secured!
Wales U17 women have done the nation proud.
Today they drew 3-3 with North Macedonia to secure top spot in the UEFA Women’s U17 Championship qualifying Group B4.
They now gain League A status for the next round.
Included in the Cymru side for Saturday’s draw at the Tbilisi Sea Technical Center Stadium were North Walians Mabli Blackshaw and Amber Low.
Mabli, aged just 14, had already performed well in wins over Luxembourg and Georgia before standing out again versus Macedonia, where she earned her 13th international cap across the U16 and U17 teams.
The Holyhead girl plays for the Caernarfon Town Acadedmy Under 15 side.
Amber, 16, from Prestatyn, is developing her career at Liverpool FC.
Cymru’s goals against Macedonia came via Maia Caswell (2) and Maya Halcrow.
Natalie Lawrence’s side fell behind to a Katie Whiteway own goal, but led 2-1 and 3-2 before conceding an equaliser midway through the second half.
