Give us a break FAW: Fans’ fury over cup tie timings

The FAW has been criticised by fans of two North Wales clubs over the timing of key fixtures.
The Welsh Cup round three tie between Cambrian United and Bangor City 1876 has been set for 5.35 pm on Sunday, November 15.
Meanwhile, the Genero Adran Trophy group clash between Connah’s Quay Nomads and Llandudno has been arranged for 2 pm on Wednesday, November 4.
Bangor supporters are angry that they are expected to make a round trip of about 350 miles – potentially a four-hour drive – to Clydach Vale in the Rhondda Valley on a Sunday.
The game at the M&P Group 3G has been selected for live coverage and will be available to watch on S4C, BBC iPlayer, S4C Clic and Sgorio’s YouTube channel.
That may well end up a blessing, as the public transport option on that day and time seems a definite no-no. Bangor fans are widely known for the strenuous efforts they make to follow the team home and away, but this latest journey demand makes life very difficult for them.

One City follower, John Dexter Jones, wrote on social media: “They’ve done it again. Never mind giving the maximum possible number of fans the best possible opportunity to attend a Welsh Cup tie that’s the pick of the round. No. We’ll put it on TV and make sure it’s as difficult as possible for away fans to get to a showcase game that could inspire a generation of young fans.”
Another supporter. Phil Roberts wrote: “Madness. There will be a lot of Bangor fans who can’t make it.”
Confusion surrounds the Genero Adran Trophy Group 2 meeting of Nomads and Llandudno.
The previously postponed game is listed on the Genero Adran Leagues website to be played on Wednesday, November 4, at 2 pm, while on the Cymru Football App, the reported date is Sunday, January 24, 2027, at 2 pm.
Either way, the tie is a dead rubber which doesn’t need to be played at all. Nomads have already qualified for the last 16, while Llandudno are out of the competition.
The Connah’s Quay Nomads Fans account on X writes: “The FAW and Adran league have scheduled the women’s team league cup game vs Llandudno for a 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon.
“Let’s not forget that players are not allowed to be paid at this level and players and coaching staff of both sides also have full time jobs.”
