Women’s football: North Wales Coast Recreation Experience Cup – Phoenix and Dragonhearts share 9-goal cracker

NORTH WALES COAST WOMEN’S RECREATION EXPERIENCE CUP – OCTOBER 22

Penmaenmawr Phoenix 4
Prestatyn Athletic Dragonhearts 5

A nine-goal cup thriller which saw Dragonhearts just about finish on top.
Captain Jade Davies and Julie Green both scored twice for the visitors, Elizabeth Kennedy adding a single.
For Penmaenmawr, skipper Sara Williams delivered a double, while Sera Hughes and Laura Twohig also made the scoresheet.

Here is how Phoenix reported on the tie:

A nine-goal thriller, some absolute screamers and a Phoenix side that deserved so much more!
It was a hard-fought cup battle for Penmaenmawr Phoenix Ladies as they took on Dragonhearts FC in a game packed with goals, determination and plenty of drama!
Phoenix showed fantastic spirit throughout, battling for every ball and refusing to give up. Despite finding themselves on the wrong side of a 5–4 scoreline, the ladies can hold their heads high after a performance full of fight, teamwork and some brilliant football.
Sara was on fire, bagging herself a fantastic brace, including an absolute corker from well inside her own half! What a strike!
Sera celebrated her very first goal for the club! A brilliant milestone and hopefully the first of many in Phoenix colours!
Laura Twohig also got herself on the scoresheet, putting in a superb performance in a less familiar position and proving her versatility and determination. A thoroughly deserved Player of the Match!
There may have been five goals against us, but there were four reasons to celebrate, and plenty of positives to take away.
