One of North Wales football’s greatest goalscorers of the past 20 years has signed for Tier 4 Mochdre Sports.

Marc Evans, 36, is a welcome addition to the North Wales Coast East Premier Division club, who this season have reached the Welsh Cup last 32 for the first time in their history.

Evans has previously played for 14 clubs since debuting in senior football in 2006-07 – 11 of them in North Wales and three in New Zealand.

Known affectionately as ‘Logs’, he has played at all levels of the Welsh football pyramid, including a spell at Porthmadog in the Cymru Premier in 2009/10.

The islander broke a club goal-scoring record at Melville United in NZ, where he played in spells between 2015-16 and 2017-18.

Evans has also won the Tier 2 Cymru Alliance League title with three clubs – Llangefni Town, Rhyl FC and Llandudno.

In 2021-22, he landed the Bob Brodie Trophy for the top marksman of Anglesey after scoring 68 league and cup goals for Bodedern Athletic, who scooped the North Wales Coast West Premier title in that season.

Evans had not played since November of last season for Gwalchmai until recently making a return at Conwy Borough, where he made just the one appearance.

Mochdre Sports manager Jason Williams said: “I am delighted to bring Marc to the club. Not only is he a fantastic lad with the personality and attitude to integrate straight into our team and club culture, but he also brings a huge amount of experience and adds even more firepower to an already strong attacking group.

“Marc shares our ambitions and is excited to play a big part in what we are building here. We believe he will be a tremendous addition both on and off the pitch. This is a brilliant signing for the football club and we are delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Evans is thought to have scored well in excess of 400 career goals.
