Two Tier 4 giant-killers from North Wales have both landed huge away ties against Cymru Premier clubs in the last 32 of the FAW Welsh Cup.

Mochdre Sports of the North Wales Coast East Premier Division will visit Connah’s Quay Nomads, national cup winners in 2018 and 2024, while North East Wales Division 1 Coedpoeth United must make the journey to Trefelin, who lie one off the bottom in their first season at Tier 1.

Sports have battled through four rounds to reach the final 32 for the first time, their latest success a 2-0 victory at Tier 5 upset merchants Llysfaen on Saturday.

Coedpoeth pulled off the result of round two when they eliminated Cymru North Guilsfield on penalties at the weekend. They led the Tier 2 visitors 3-1, were pegged back to 3-3 late on, but then showed true grit to triumph 9-8 on spot kicks.

Coedy manager Jack Pawley said: “We know they (Trefelin) will be a tidy side but really pleased with the draw, this is why we enter this competition for draws like this.

“After the high of the weekend this is exactly the kind of tie we wanted and deserve and all the lads are looking forward to it.”

Elsewhere in tonight’s draw, Tier 3 villagers CPD Y Felinheli landed a massive tie away to Cymru Premier Llandudno.

Bangor City 1876 of the Cymru North must travel to Cymru Premier mid-table outfit Cambrian United, while holders Caernarfon Town will host Holywell Town in an all-top flight tussle.

Holyhead Hotspur’s reward for a fantastic win at Bala on Saturday is a home tie against Tier 5 Blaen-y-Maes AFC of the Swansea Senior League Premier Division.

Cymru North leaders Brickfield Rangers have been handed a tricky trip to Cymru South Caerau Ely, Dolgellau AA of Tier 3 Ardal North East have earned a test at Cymru Premier Cardiff Met, while Colwyn Bay will welcome Cymru South side Aberystwyth Town to the Blue Turtle Arena.
