Flint continued their dynamic start to the season with an eight-goal salvo at home to familiar rivals Felinheli at the Essity on Sunday.
The Silkwomen are top of Group 1 in the Genero Adran Trophy with back-to-back wins and will aim to maintain their 100% record when they visit Bangor City 1876 this weekend.
Three goals in the opening 22 minutes set up Becca Eagles’ side for an emphatic success in their latest outing.
Captain Ruby McGilloway led by example when she netted the opener on 11 minutes, Poppy Smith delivered a corner and McGilloway raced from the edge of the box to the front post before smashing the ball into the top-right.
Just a minute later Shannon Hobbs lashed a long-range beauty into the top-right corner after exchanging passes with Daisy Hughes.
Hobbs made it 3-0 when she latched onto a Becky Bott goal-kick and fired across goal to find the net.
In a comfortable position at half time, Flint nonetheless knew Felinheli are a side capable of making a comeback so there remained much work to be done in the second 45.
Seven minutes into the second half, Laura Williams lifted the ball over the defence, Ruby Hastings ran onto it and drilled past the keeper.
Felin opened their account with a Catrin Evans penalty, awarded for a challenge by Shona Roberts on Fflur Williams.
After creating several chances for others throughout the game, Laura Williams hit one into the bottom corner to make it 5-1 on 78.
Just two minutes later, Hastings notched her second after linking well with Williams. This pair are developing into a really potent attacking partnership. Hobbs and sub Bella Riley were also involved in the build up.
The visitors scored again when Llywela Edwards intercepted the ball in the middle, let fly with a brilliant shot from long range which struck the crossbar, but Jenna Allsup was first on the scene to convert the rebound for 6-2.
Williams claimed her second for the Silkwomen on 90+2 when she received the ball on the edge of the box from Becca Hughes, taking on two defenders and slotting it past the keeper.
There was delight in the Flint camp when youngster Riley got the final goal. The recent signing worked really hard, creating chances after coming on at half time. Riley received the ball on the edge of the 18 yard box and hit it into the top right of the net.
It was a late kick off on Sunday following a couple of rearranged attempts to play Felinheli but the eventual outcome worked out fine for the home side.
Felinheli are struggling for results without a regular goalkeeper, a situation which needs addressing.
