Inspirational addition to Bangor City 1876 management
Bangor City 1876’s new assistant-manager is a mighty addition to the club.
Former Wrexham and Wales defender Steve Evans has been appointed to work alongside new Citizens boss Huw Griffiths.
The 47-year-old brings tremendous pedigree to City. As a player he made 80 league appearances for Wrexham between 2006-09 and clocked up 87 outings in all competitions.
He also earned seven full caps for Wales from 2006-08, playing against Liechtenstein, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, San Marino, New Zealand, Bulgaria and Russia.
Evans also has vast experience of Welsh domestic football, having won five Cymru Premier League titles as a player with The New Saints, where he was also assistant-manager, as well as having playing spells at Connah’s Quay Nomads and Caernarfon Town. He still plays veterans football.
Evans joined the TNS coaching staff in 2017 becoming assistant to Scott Ruscoe. In January 2022, Evans was appointed first team manager at Colwyn Bay, guiding them into the Cymru Premier for season 2023/24.
Following their relegation at the end that season, he left the club and joined Lee Fowler on the management team at Flint Town United.
Following Fowler’s departure from the Essity last week, Evans also begins a new adventure, joining Griffiths in what Bangor City 1876 hope will become a management dream team.

“Steve Evans will join as a key member of Huw Griffiths’ coaching team and will play a vital role as we continue to move the club forward.
“Evans will lead the team for our Wednesday fixture against NFA with Huw Griffiths taking his role from the Porthmadog game onwards.”
