North Wales Coast East League: Five-goal hauls for Hold and Bowers
NORTH WALES COAST EAST LEAGUE – REPORTS AUGUST 8
PREMIER DIVISION
Cerrigydrudion 4-2 Prestatyn Sports
Cerrig began their league campaign with a home win over promoted Prestatyn Sports.
Sub Cai Aykroyd (2), Tom Watkin Jones and Tirion Griffiths shared the home goals, Osian Davies and Ste Falvey replying.
FC Mountain 1-3 Conwy Borough
Two late goals clinched victory for Borough at Tier 4 newcomers Mountain.
Greg Hall handed the visitors a fourth-minute lead, but Andrew Merner levelled in first half injury time.
It stayed 1-1 until Dion Jones edged Conwy back in front on 86, then Connor Morris struck again seven minutes past the 90.
Llandudno Junction 0-6 Mochdre Sports
Adam Hold made it eight goals in two games for Sports with a quintet in Saturday’s emphatic win at The Flyover.
In a testing opening period where both sides were finding their feet on a rock hard pitch, the score was opened by Hold on 25 minutes, before another pair in two minutes right on half time completed back-to-back trebles for the forward.
The game was settled when a fourth goal was scored by Lee Stokes just after the second half began, Stokes finally scoring after hitting the bar and the post in the first half with great strikes from range.
Credit to the young Junction side who didn’t give up, and forced development side keeper Harry Lodge into a fine save to keep his clean sheet before another two goals from Hold made it six.
Llandudno Swifts 4-1 Y Glannau
Joseph Carey (2), Isaac Carey and Frank Montgomery combined to seal victory for the hosts, who also had Freddie Banning sent off on 53 minutes for two yellow cards, Andrew George responding for the visitors.
Llanfairfechan Town 9-0 Penrhyn Bay
Ruthless Llanfairfechan piled on the goals at the Recreation Ground, Harry Croston notching a hat-trick while sub Osian Roberts and Dylan Edwards netted twice, Cynan Edwards and Frankie Gughrill adding singles.
CPD Llansannan 3-2 St Asaph City
Two-goal star Meilir Williams delivered an 86th minute decider for Llansannan.
Danny Porter also found the target for the hosts, Ryan Potts and Finlay Ellam replying for Saints, who had fought back from two-down to level.
Rhos United 1-4 Llandudno Amateurs
Last season’s champions the Amateurs kicked off in winning fashion.
Euan Hince, veteran Danny Hughes (2) and sub Luke Nichols shared the away goals, Cole Shone with the Rhos consolation.
DIVISION ONE
Blue Bridge 1-2 Towyn
New side Towyn began their league campaign with a win, Mason Fleming and Cam Berry with their goals, sub Finley McGuinness responding for Bridge.
Glan Conwy 3-3 Meliden
All-square at Cae Ffwt where Meliden fought back from two-down to lead, but were pegged back by a 91st minute penalty.
Liam Daly scored on 23 and 29 minutes to put Glan in command, but Ray Knight pulled one back before the break.
In the second half, Thomas Weir and Luke Snape struck on 65 and 66 respectively to edge the Miners ahead, but that late spot-kick from Mezz Knight salvaged a draw.
Llandyrnog United 3-1 Llysfaen
Josh Griffiths, Luke Appleby and Alfie Harrison (pen) all made the scoresheet for clinch three points for Llandyrnog, Mike Chapman on the mark for Llysfaen.
Rhuddlan Town 6-3 Crozzy
Captain Liam Bowers started the season on fire with five goals in his team’s 6-3 success over Crozzy.
Bowers, who hit 41 goals last season, looks in the mood to cause mayhem again this term after Saturday’s quintet at Pengwern College, Riley Patterson adding a single for Town.
Aiden McBride (pen), Josh Roberts and sub Thomas Harrison replied for the visitors.
Rhuddlan had Luke Bowers red-carded after 15 minutes when they were 2-0 up.
Rhyl Rangers 0-3 Henllan
Alex Thomas, Shaun Davies and Ryan Lowe bagged the goals that mattered for Henllan at Ffordd Las.
