Rhyl-area trio sign up for North Wales League club Denbigh Town Ladies

Denbigh Town Ladies have added three quality players from Rhyl to their squad for the 2026-27 season.

Lauren Jones and Alicia Duke arrive at Central Park from NFA, while left wing-back Rosie O’Brien, formerly of Rhyl 1879, is another new face at the Town.

Jones, 28, was firstly a Rhyl FC player before making her mark as a goalkeeper in the CPD Y Rhyl 1879 side which won the 2021-22 North Wales League title as invincibles.

Known as Loz, Jones went on to represent 1879 for three seasons in Tier 2 Adran North, sharing the keeping duties with Bethan Thomas.

When 1879 folded at the end of 2024-25, Jones signed for NFA and transformed into a prolific striker, scoring 14 goals for the Rhyl-based side last season.

Now Jones moves on to Denbigh Town, where she again signs as a striker. She is a great addition to the squad, as she can also operate as a keeper if needed.

Duke, 22, a defender or midfielder, was also a member of the 2021-22 Rhyl 1879 title-winning team.

She played for the Lilywhites for four seasons, making 60 appearances and netting four goals, before the team’s disbansion led to a switch to NFA last term.

Duke featured in 16 matches for the Ffordd Derwen club in 2025-26.

O’Brien, 25, has up to now always worn the colours of Rhyl, first the original FC and then 1879 after the 2021-22 season.

She made 50 appearances across spells in the North Wales League and Adran North with 1879, bagging four goals. A rapid, hard-working left-sided operator, she can prove a real asset for Denbigh in the campaign ahead.
