Chirk AAA build new-look squad in attempt to reclimb the pyramid

After three successive relegations ons of North Wales’ most historic clubs are determined to bounce back.

In their 150th year, Chirk AAA have made some strong pre-season signings designed to boost their quest to climb back up the ladder.

The Colliers were in Tier 2 Cymru North as recently as 2023-24, but lost their status that season, were relegated from T3 Ardal North East in 2024-25 and then last term suffered the drop from T4 North East Wales League Division 1.

Founded in 1876, Chirk will target an instant bounce back from Division 2 in this special anniversary campaign.

The following signings have been confirmed….

Tom Freeman

Star signing of the summer so far. 

He returns to Holyhead Road after a short stint at FC Queens Park where he won a host of medals last season.
Freeman is an experienced, talented striker who brings goals to any team.
Formerly with Chirk Town, Freeman joined Chirk AAA at the start of 2023-24.
After bagging 12 goals in 11 games for the reserves, the 31-year-old established himself in the first team the following season. scoring 21 goals in 24 outings before joining Brickfield Rangers late in 2024-25.
Freeman returned to Chirk at the start of last season, hitting 12 goals in 19 matches before signing for Queens Park in January 2026.

Dale Davies

Another big name returns to Holyhead Road.
Davies is a Chirk player again after spells at Bangor City 1876 and Llanuwchllyn. He became a fans favourite at both clubs with his energetic performances, winning the Ardal North East title with the latter last season, notching 18 goals in all competitions.
Well known to Chirk supporters after being part of the Ardal North East championship-winning side of 2021-22, pocketing 19 goals in 22 league appearances that season. Represented Chirk in the Cymru North in 2022-23 and 2-23-24.

Lewis Evans

A player who can play multiple positions, providing a solid foundation at right back and being able to step into midfield is a top addition to the squad. Former clubs include St Martins & Gobowen.

Harley Dubicki

Harley is known for his electric pace operating from left back, an exciting defender who loves to get forward. His defensive qualities prove him a tough player to beat. Impressed in preseason. Former clubs include Four Crosses & Gobowen.

Luke Mackenzie

Luke’s football understanding is one of his top strengths, a player who reads a game as well as any. His defensive prowess and physical approach is a solid addition to the group. Former club is Gobowen.

Ed Rogers

Ed joins as a central defender but is known as a versatile player who can play many positions. His qualities are sought after by many teams so Chirk are glad to have him.

Louis Morris

Left sided defender who can also play on the wing, he brings energy and pace into Chirk’s new look squad.

Luke Dwyer

Dwyer is a player who has top quality, forever setting the standards in training and being one of the first to step up and take responsibility on the pitch.

James Jones

An experienced centre half whose CV speaks for itself. The former Salford City and Chester player brings bags of quality into an already strong squad.

Sammy Nash

Well known player who can play multiple positions. Whether it be across the front line or in the centre of the park he’s another player whose quality and experience will be a great addition to the group. Previously played at Chirk several years ago

Charlie Morris

A young, fit, non stop forward who’s energy levels are unmatched. Charlie joins the Colliers as an attacking threat that can play multiple forward positions. Previously with Gobowen

Tristan Lloyd

Tristan is a well known face at Chirk AAAs being part of their tier 2 side 3 seasons back. His passing quality along with his eye for goal is a great addition for the squad. A player who’s gives his all each and every game.
