Bangor City 1876 cleared of charges relating to alleged pyrotechnics misuse at cup tie

CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 have been cleared of two changes relating to alleged misuse of pyrotechnics at their ground during a match last season.

The club faced an FAW accusation under its Rule 38.1.15 of fireworks being let off at a Welsh Cup tie against Caearu Ely at Bangor City Stadium on January 31 this year.

The penalties for such offences, if found proven, can be severe.

The matter was heard by an FAW disciplinary panel on Tuesday evening.

Representing Bangor City 1876, Christopher O’Neal defended the charges, which were found to be unproven. Sufficient evidence was provided to satisfy the hearing that fireworks were not activated inside the ground.

After the hearing, Bangor City 1876 welcomed the verdict, but stressed the club in no way condones the use of pyrotechnics at its stadium and that anyone found bringing such items into the ground would face an instant ban.
