Former Rhyl FC star plays part in downfall of Chirk’s cricketers

Former The New Saints and Rhyl FC football great John Leah helped guide Sentinel to victory over North Wales visitors Chirk on Saturday.

The away team won the toss and batted, posting 163 all out off 35.2 overs, skipper and opener James Carter best with 52, Mark Shaw adding 32, while Jamie Wear snapped up 4-33 for the hosts.

Shrewsbury-based Sentinel got home on 164-7 off 44.4, Joel Tomlinson 37 and captain Leah 29 not out, Shaw 2-18, Matt Lawrenson 2-24 and Nitish Sharma 2-28 for Chirk.
