CRICKET: Eighth straight loss for Chirk 1st XI but seconds bag a winning draw

DIVISION ONE

Chirk 1st XI (5) 171-10 Oswestry 1st XI (24) 240-8

Next-to-bottom Chirk 1st XI suffered their eighth league defeat in a row on Saturday.

Winning the toss and deciding to field against Oswestry, the Colliers paid the price when the visitors rattled up 240-8 off 45 overs, Brandon Diplock best with 77.

For Chirk, Habibullah Ahmadzai took 2-10 and skipper Liam Walker 2-44.

Despite a fine 90 from opener Gareth Partridge, which included nine fours and three sixes, Chirk were bowled out for 171 in response, Diplock the undoubted man of the match with 5-40. 

DIVISION SEVEN

Harcourt 1st XI (9) 163-4 Chirk 2nd XI (15) 229-6

Better fortunes for Chirk seconds as they got a winning draw at Harcourt’s 1st XI.

This clash of the bottom two saw Chirk elect to bat and chalk up a useful 229-6 off 40 overs, skipper Dale Randall 44, David Lunt 42 and Hidayat Haroonkhail 39 not out.

Harcourt were restricted to 163-4 off 40, Jim Swallow 68 not out, Zahid Nasiri 2-10 and Haroonkhail 2-36 for the North Wales visitors.
