Llangefni Town Ladies have had a magnificent season – their best yet.
They were crowned inaugural 2025-26 North Wales Coast Women’s League champions with an unbeaten record and only got denied promotion to the Tier 2 Genero Adran North by a ridiculous FAW ruling dictating that they and Central Wales North title-winners Wrexham Foresters – also undefeated – met in a play-off to decide which one of them goes up.
After a thrilling encounter at Bala on Sunday, Foresters won 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. They were the winners, but there were no real losers on the day, only two worthy champions who should both be in Tier 2 next season.
I know there will be people following us now who are angry and disappointed with what has transpired over the last few weeks. But I’m going to leave the football politics behind and concentrate on what’s most important to me: my team and my players.
They are hurting right now, and I’m hurting right now. But we cannot forget that we also hurt last season when we lost the league and the cup in the space of two to three weeks. Look at how we’ve bounced back and used that hurt and heartbreak to fuel us this season.
Going unbeaten in this league is no small feat. It takes discipline, concentration, hard work in training week after week, belief in each other, and players with an immense mentality—which we are lucky to have in bucket loads.
How we’ve responded this season is nothing short of phenomenal, and I am beyond proud.
We also added Lowri Thomas, Carys Lock and Cerys Gadd, and they injected new life into this team. They didn’t experience what we went through last season first-hand, but within just weeks they wanted it just as much as the girls who did.
We’ve watched Cerys Gadd, one of this island’s most experienced footballers, re-energise herself and find some of the best form of her career. We’ve watched Lowri Thomas rediscover her love and joy for the game and turn herself into an absolute animal in terms of football and fitness. And we’ve watched Carys Lock bring her physicality, pace and personality, lighting up the changing room when we so desperately needed to smile again.
There is so much to be thankful for and so much for us to look forward to.
I’m pleased to say that every single player is on board to go even further next season. We’ll strengthen again with some exciting players coming in, and if there is a team that can get the best out of anyone, it’s this team.
Five years in, there is still so much to be done and so much to improve. There is so much for me to improve on personally, and I will continue to push myself and strive to be better every single day for this team and my players, because they deserve the best.
To the families, fans and everyone behind the scenes at this club: thank you for all your support this season.
To Liam, I can be relentless—every single day with messages, voice notes and phone calls—and you never fail to match my energy, even while navigating family life. Without you, it would be over.
And to my players: you are champions, and don’t you forget it.
All my love,
Dan
