Colwyn Bay’s season came alive against ideal opponents as they put paid to leaders Northop Hall’s early run of three victories on Saturday.
After failing to register a win in their first three matches, the Bay got off the mark with a five-wicket success in Saturday’s North Wales derby at Smithy Lane.
Hall won the toss and batted, but despite the top five all getting starts no-one was able to go on and make a substantial score.
The hosts were bowled out for just 108 in 33.1 overs, new-ball bowler Jack Parry registering his second-best figures for the first team of 6-53 off 17, while Charlie Collins scooped 3-9.
Jac Kennedy (23) and Christian Jardine (20) were the home team’s top contributors.
In reply, Colwyn Bay plummeted to 35-5 and looked to be heading for defeat, but sixth-wicket pair Collins (44 not out) and Luke Russell (37 no) put on an unbroken 77 to win the match.
The visitors finished on 112-5 off 32.4 to seal a 20 points to five victory.
For Hall, Paul Jenkins claimed an excellent 3-28 from 14 against his former club, while paceman Carwyn Johnson picked up 2-51.
On a splendid day for Colwyn Bay CC, the seconds romped to a 107-run triumph over Wavertree seconds at Penrhyn Avenue.
Put into bat, the hosts amassed 225-1 declared off 36.4 overs, skipper Tom Roberts posting an excellent unbeaten 101 off 11 balls which included 17 fours and two sixes.
Roberts shared in a dynamic opening stand of 134 with Zane Roy, who struck 13 fours and a maximum in his 78-ball knock of 68.
Jaiveer Tomar also made hay with a 32-delivery 50 not out which involved seven boundaries and three sixes.
Bay then sent the Liverpool side packing for 118, Finn Eames Hughes 3-9 off seven overs, Sam Roberts 2-23 and Tom Clarke 2-35.
Maximum points for Bay and just two for Wavertree.
Michael Williamson and Thomas Doggett both produced vital knocks of 64 to guide Northop Hall seconds to victory at Burrows Lane.
Prescot were inserted by the visitors and bowled out for 185, Matthew Edwards with best bowling of 3-26, Matteo Evans-Ford 2-31, Oliver Jenkins 2-35 and Liam Evans-Ford 2-49.
In response, Hall reached 187-6 off 37, opener Williamson finishing not out, while Doggett was out caught but not before the top-scoring pair had put on a century.
