North Wales still well in contention after narrow first leg 2-1 defeat in Uefa Regions Cup

Liam Eason scored twice for Tîm Rhanbarthol Cymru y De as they claimed a 2-1 win over their North Wales counterparts in the first leg of the UEFA Regions’ Cup play-off at Ynys Park on Saturday.

The Cambrian United striker provided the different between the teams at Trefelin, but Tim Rhanbarthol y Gogledd are still very much in the tie thanks to a goal from Jamie Hyne of Newtown.

Rhyl 1879’s Morgan Murray and Billy Holmes were among the Gogledd line-up, the squad chosen by manager Nathan Leonard comprising some of the best names eligible competing in the Cymru North.

The second leg takes place at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium on Saturday 9 May (KO 15:00).
