NORTH EAST WALES VETS LEAGUE CUP FINAL – SUNDAY, MAY 3

FC Queens Park Vets 3 (N Williams 65, 78, Latham 75)
Hawarden Rangers Vets 1 (Dawson pen 40)

Treble accomplished for FC Queens Park Vets!

After banking the North East Wales Veterans League Division 1 title and NEWFA Veterans Cup in recent weeks, Park Vets made it three-out-of-three after recovering from a goal down to beat Hawarden Rangers 3-1 in the North East Wales Vets League Cup Final.

Sunday’s showpiece at Brymbo SSC saw league runners-up Hawarden take a 40th minute lead through an Alan Dawson penalty.

Midway through the second half, it remained 1-0 until Nicky Williams found the equaliser.

The Wrexham side now had the impetus and on 75 minutes player-manager and sub Dave Evans provided the assist as Mike Latham netted his 65th goal of the season – 34 vets, 31 senior.

And the treble was secured when captain Josh Betteley set up Nicky Williams for his 34th goal of the campaign – 26 senior, 8 vets.
