NORTH EAST WALES FOOTBALL LEAGUE LATEST with SHAUN BEST

Congratulations to Acton!

A third league win on the spin handed the Wrexham outfit the Division Two title. Having played catch up with their games over the last few weeks, Acton knew today was win or bust. The decider at the Mold Rec didn’t disappoint, with Acton putting opponents and previous league leaders CPD Sychdyn United to the sword.

CPD Yr Wyddgrug warmed up for the NEWFA Trophy Final by edging out Overton Recreation, who themselves have a final to play next weekend when they face Cefn Druids in the Two Counties Cup.

CPD Gronant’s league form fell away at the wrong time and today’s defeat meant no win in four and resulted in a third place finish in Division Three. AFC Deeside finish a point ahead of them in second place.

Brickfield Rangers’s second string confirmed second place in Reserve Division One by winning a feisty game against Saltney Town. The referee was dishing out more cards than Clinton’s, as two of the home scorers saw red and then Saltney missed a last gasp penalty and the chance to win a point.
