CONNAH’S QUAY TOWN 0

All hail FC Queen’s Park – the 2022-23 Premier Division champions.

Taking on main title rivals Connah’s Quay Town at The Dunks, Dave Evans’ side got the three points they needed to lift the tier 4 title.

And it was no surprise at all that once again the hero of the hour was one Michael Stuart Latham.

The 33-year-old has been untouchable since returning to the Wrexham club in January.

In 15 matches across all competitions, Latham has scored 25 goals, including three hat-tricks.

He found the net in each of his first seven comeback matches, delivering 12 goals.

Latham is also Premier Division top-scorer on 17 goals since his move from Cefn Albion.

The Park had beaten Connah’s Quay twice already this term, 1-0 away in the league and 2-1 at home in the NEWFA Horace Wynne Cup.

Tonight they took an 11th minute lead when Josh Venables set up Latham for the opener.

In the 22nd minute the hosts won a penalty and Latham converted from the spot.

The points were well and truly sealed when Latham made it 3-0 in the 85th minute, Tony Jones setting him up.

With a big crowd to cheer them on, it was a night to remember for the Park, who will make it a treble if they lift the Horace Wynne Cup at Ruabon Rovers’ expense on May 19.

The Park have now won 13 matches on the bounce and 20 of their last 21, the only defeat a 1-0 reverse against tier 2 Ruthin Town in the NEWFA Senior Challenge Cup.
