FC Queen’s Park are one win away from landing the North East Wales League Division 1 title.

The Wrexham Tier 4 side triumphed 5-1 at Greenfield today to make it 20 straight wins in all competitions – 14 of those in the league.

Nicky Williams led the charge with a hat-trick to rise up to 26 first team goals for the season, Mikey Latham’s penalty put him on 29 for the first team in 2025-26, while Jordan Williams also found the target.

It’s as you were at the top of Division 1, with the top three sides all winning.

As a result, Queen’s Park will become champions should they win at Rhydymwyn next weekend.

Relegation was confirmed for both Ruabon Rovers and Chirk AAA after their respective defeats. It has certainly been a season to forget for both sides, who will look to regroup in the summer and bounce back next season at the first time of asking.

Acton remain in the title hunt in Division Two and set themselves up nicely for a midweek clash with fellow title hopefuls Aston Park Rangers.

In Division 3, CPD Gronant still have promotion in their own hands, although they were pegged back by Johnstown YFC, who came from 2-0 down to secure a point.

Runaway leaders Mynydd Isa were pushed all the way by CPD Rhos Aelwyd in Reserve Division One, but a late Michael Murray winner maintained their nine point lead at the summit. Llangollen Town’s reserves posted an emphatic victory against basement side Saltney Town to move clear of the bottom two.

FC Queen’s Park’s second string won their six pointer against Broughton United’s reserves. The victors narrowed the gap at the top to just four points and have four games in hand still in their back pocket.

Greenfield and Ruthin Town Colts look to be battling it out with Castell Alun Colts for third place. Ruthin’s Seth Evans shot to the top of the scoring charts after today’s double.
