Ever-prolific Michael Latham was a hat-trick hero as Queen’s Park stormed into the Premier Cup final where a meeting with Coedpoeth United awaits.
Latham made it 26 goals in 19 first team fixtures for the Park this season – he has also bagged 26 for the Vets side – with a treble at Queensway Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Captain Rhys Hughes made the early impact for Arran Taylor’s side with goals on 6 and 16 minutes, Nicky Williams and Ryan Kersham with the assists.
Rhostyllen were still in the tie at half time after Martyn Elms pulled a goal back in the 31st minute.
Latham then took centre stage with two goals in the opening four minutes of the second half, Kershaw assisting with the first of those.
In the 75th minute, Latham completed his third hat-trick of the campaign for the first team, making absolutely sure the Park were into the final.
Both sides had a player sent off in a semi-final which ended in triumph for Coedy.
Thomas Williams made the difference for the hosts, finding the net after three and 72 minutes.
Two minutes before half time, Coedpoeth had Joe Colley red-carded for violent conduct.
The teams were evened up 11 minutes into the second half when Broughton’s Lewis Jones was dismissed for two yellows.
CPD Sychdyn United went back to the top of Division Two following today’s win. AFC Deeside also ascended to second place in Division Three, but CPD Gronant still have games in hand.
The title race in Reserve Division One is hotting up. Mynydd Isa currently occupy top spot, although the leading four will all still harbour title hopes.
