With all four Welsh Cup semi-finalists being from North Wales, we are guaranteed the eventual competition winner will be from this region.
And the north is also doing pretty well in the national FAW Amateur Trophy for Tier 3 and below, with two of our clubs guaranteed to be in the semis – and we could end up with three.
However, unlike the Welsh Cup, the team that lifts the Trophy is not certain to be a northern one.
Nonetheless, we have some very strong contenders participating in this weekend’s quarter-finals.
Here’s some previews…..

The only two sides to take points off Bangor City 1876 in Ardal North West this season meet in a Trophy quarter-final on Saturday.
Penmaenmawr, who held the Citizens 3-3 at Cae Sling in November, host a Llannefydd outfit which drew 2-2 at Bangor City Stadium early in the season before ending the blues’ 32-match unbeaten run with a 3-2 home victory on February 7.
Pen and Llannefydd are yet to meet this season and have not locked horns since 2022-23,.
Since 2019-20, Llannefydd have won five out of six tussles between the pair.
Despite struggling in next-to-bottom spot in ANW, Phoenix have won their last two games, while ninth-place Llannefydd are undefeated in three.
Saturday’s tie at Parc Ynysderw has the look of an even, 50-50 affair with Pontardawe sixth in Ardal South West and Prestatyn fifth in Ardal North West.
Without a match in four weeks due to the weather, Seasiders manager Aden Shannon admits it has been a frustrating spell, but with some new signings on board this week is optimstic ahead of the long trip to South Wales.
“It’s been a positive yet incredibly frustrating start to if I’m being honest. We haven’t been anle to build any real momentum with games being called off. – and the weather lately has been horrendous,” he said.
“Personally, I can’t thank the ground staff and volunteers at the club enough. They’ve worked tirelessly behind the scenes and the effort they put in every single week is incredible. It certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.
“We’ve made some good signings. Hopefully now we can start to gel, build some consistency and really kick on for a strong end to the season.
“Tomorrow’s game is huge. I’m hoping we can give the fans, the staff and everyone connected with the club something to cheer about as it’s been a tough season so far.
“As long as the boys give everything for the badge, that’s all I can ask. I’m confident we can go there and come away with a positive result.”
