Why is Trearddur Bay’s Tuesday night game cancelled?

Trearddur Bay’s Ardal North West League clash at home to Llanrwst United on Tuesday night has been postponed.

The cancellation of the scheduled game at Bangor City Stadium is reported on the Cymru Football App and was confirmed by visitors Llanrwst on social media this evening.

Trearddur Bay have as yet made no announcement themselves on the reason for the call off. The club has been in the headlines over the weekend and beyond for the wrong reasons.

Bay lost 3-2 at Porthmadog on Saturday in a match marred by an alleged assault which was caught on video and has received widespread social media coverage..

Porthmadog player Danny Brookwell appeared to be elbowed to the ground just as a penalty kick to the home side was taken. It was later confirmed Mr Brookwell had suffered concussion.

A 35-year-old man was later arrested and has since been released on conditional bail in connection with the incident.

North Wales Police said it was working closely with the victim and appealed for witnesses.

Trearddur Bay has apologised for the incident and have since released player Tom Taylor following an emergency general meeting of the committee on Sunday.

North Wales Police is asking that anyone with relevant information about the incident to contact the force through 101 quoting 26000046180.
