NORTH WALES COAST DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE
DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE CUP
Holyhead Hotspur Development 2 Conwy Borough Swifts Development 0

Hotspur transferred their fine league form to the cup with a two-goal success over Conwy at the New Stadium on Sunday.
Goals came from Casey Gregg on 21 minutes and club legend Mel McGinness after 90.
Manager Scott Hakesley takes us through the game.
“As Storm Goretti entered North Wales we entered our first game of the League Cup and 2026 versus Conwy Borough.
“We took the lead when having won the call, we decided to go against the wind first half and found ourselves creating some chances early on, the Conwy keeper gathering the majority of them.
“Then new signing Floyd Chapman found himself free down the left hand side and put in a superb cross for Casey Gregg to head home. A very even first half but we go into the break 1-0 up.
“Second half and we just felt the winter break was catching up with us on a heavy pitch in tough conditions. We continued to battle on but probably lacked the cutting edge we’ve come accustomed to of late.
“So fresh legs entered and we found it stretched the game, creating an exciting last 20 mins.
“Today’s MOTM Melv McGinness popped up late on to see us through to the next round and taking the pressure off.
“Sometimes you have to win ugly and that we did. We have a great squad all onboard with what we’re trying to do and achieve this season. Thanks to Conwy Borough FC for travelling down and best of luck for the season.
“Next up is an away trip to Nantlle Vale on Sunday the 18th January. Thank you to all the fans for coming out in tough conditions.”
